On the 17th, TYM (Co-CEOs Hiyong Kim, Dohoon Kim / 002900), a specialized agricultural machinery company, announced that it donated the RGO-690 autonomous rice transplanter to the Department of Agricultural and Life Industry at Seogwipo Industrial Science High School on the 14th.
The donation ceremony was held at the Shinpyeong Ecological Experience School in Daejeong-eup, Seogwipo City, Jeju, with over 50 attendees, including TYM's Domestic Business Division Director Dongik Kim, ESG Strategy Team Leader Dogeun Kim, Jeju Provincial Government Deputy Governor Aesook Kim, Jeju Education Superintendent Kwangsoo Kim, Jeju Provincial Council Education Committee Vice Chairman Byungwoo Yang, as well as the Jeju Regional Development Committee, Generational Integration Counseling Education Welfare Research Association, and Seogwipo Industrial Science High School Principal Kyungsam Moon, among others. The ceremony also marked the launch of the 'Shinpyeong Ecological Learning Community' for ecological learning by residents of Shinpyeong-ri and surrounding Jeju residents.
Seogwipo Industrial Science High School (hereafter referred to as Seogwi Sango) is a public specialized high school located in Jeju, focusing on nurturing professional talent in the agricultural life industry. The school's Department of Agricultural and Life Industry requested the donation of agricultural machinery to aid in educational practice and programs aimed at reviving rice farming, which is disappearing in Jeju. TYM decided to donate the autonomous rice transplanter to contribute to talent development and agricultural advancement.
TYM's RGO-690 is the first autonomous rice transplanter in Korea to pass the comprehensive performance test for agricultural machinery autonomous driving systems in May 2023. TYMICT, led by CEO Sowon Kim, developed the core technologies for autonomous driving, including the Inertial Navigation System (INS), path generation and tracking software, and autonomous driving controllers and consoles.
Through this donation, TYM aims to contribute to the advancement of domestic agriculture and rural development while promoting its brand and products, forming a bond with future agricultural professionals (agricultural high school students), and securing potential future customers. The donated transplanter will be used for education and rice planting operations in a practice field of approximately 23,140 m2 at the Shinpyeong Ecological Experience School, with the harvested crops to be used for community revenue projects.
A TYM representative stated, "We hope this donation of the autonomous rice transplanter will enhance the students' ability to use agricultural machinery and support the successful launch and operation of the Shinpyeong Ecological Learning Community. TYM will continue to support various agriculture-related specialized schools and regional communities, enhance brand and product recognition among potential customers, and strive towards becoming the market leader in Korea."
