  • Ten companies join TYM to standardize and scale AI across tractors and implements
  • Physical AI delivers autonomous driving and task automation in ready to use tractor and implement packages to simplify operations
  • Through TYM’s dealer network, a program for bundled implement purchases expands direct benefits for farmers

Ten specialist companies across tractors, implements, and AI, including TYM, have embarked on a strategic collaboration to secure leadership in the future agricultural market.

Global agricultural machinery specialist TYM (Co-CEOs Hiyong Kim and Dohoon Kim / 002900) announced on the 17th that it has officially launched the “AI² Consortium (Agricultural Implement × Artificial Intelligence, hereafter ‘AI Square’),” Korea’s first initiative to integrate tractor, implement, and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.

The consortium was formed to address structural challenges in agriculture, including rapid rural aging and labor shortages, while meeting the rising demand for automation. Participants include TYM, its implement-manufacturing subsidiary ROOT, digital agriculture specialist TYMICT, AI solution providers Maum AI and AIS, and implement manufacturers Dooroo Machinery, Onnuri Machinery, Woongjin Machinery, G-GEUMGANG ENG, and Taeyang Agricultural Machinery. Officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, including Director Tae-seop Moon of the Advanced Equipment and Seeds Division and Deputy Director Hyun Lee, also attended the launch event, underscoring strong policy-level interest.

Through joint R&D, the consortium will pioneer the integration of ‘Physical AI,’ which combines artificial intelligence with hardware, into agricultural machinery. This will deliver the industry’s first tractors and implements capable of both autonomous driving and fully automated field operations.

In particular, the consortium is distinguished by enabling not just autonomous driving of the tractor alone, but full autonomous driving and autonomous operation of the combined package of a tractor and a range of implements. This is widely regarded as a breakthrough innovation that significantly enhances real-world efficiency and convenience for farmers.

Implements from consortium members will be developed and supplied in optimized form for TYM tractors. In addition, TYM will build a nationwide dealer system that allows farmers to purchase tractors and implements in one stop, replacing the traditional model of relying on each implement company’s individual sales networks. This system expands farmers’ opportunities to choose from a wider range of implements more rationally and conveniently.

TYM will provide support in research, development, and resource management, while leading technical exchanges and joint marketing initiatives among participants. By pooling resources through the consortium, the companies aim to reduce costs and maximize capabilities. Leveraging its global network, anchored by its North America campus and integrated European operations, TYM also plans to accelerate expansion into overseas markets.

Consortium participants expressed high expectations that this collaboration will create close cooperation among a comprehensive agricultural machinery manufacturer, AI solution providers, and implement manufacturers, offering new breakthroughs for businesses that had reached limits within their individual domains.

Dohoon Kim, Co-CEO of TYM, said, “Integrating not only autonomous tractor driving but also the autonomous operation of implements through artificial intelligence is a core competitive capability for the future of agriculture. It maximizes customer-centric convenience and efficiency. Together with our partners, TYM will lead innovation in Physical AI-based precision agriculture and the smart farming ecosystem, address challenges in the field, and be a reliable partner that delivers tangible benefits to farmers.”
